چکیده
The pungency-variable sweet chili pepper ‘Shishito’ (Capsicum annuum) is widely cultivated in Japan. While generally used as a vegetable because of its relatively low pungency, it sometimes exhibits high pungency depending on cultivation conditions. Although the occurrence pungent fruits problem retail distribution and utilization, responsible mechanism largely unknown. As one approach to clarify mechanism, we focused effects parthenocarpy (resulting seedless fruit) traits fruits. In present study, artificial parthenocarpic were prepared by treatment with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), level was investigated quantification capsaicinoids, components for pungency. For comparison, two controls used: naturally pollinated 2,4-D-treated which exposed 2,4-D without parthenocarpy. results indicated that capsaicinoid content tended be higher compared controls. This suggests alterations associated Further, these relationships assessed using molecular method, gene expression analysis qRT-PCR conducted 16 biosynthesis genes. showed eight genes (Pun1, pAMT, KAS, CaMYB31, BCAT, CaKR1, ACL, FAT) exhibited parthenocarpy-specific expression, suggesting influence levels novel report carefully parthenocarpy-dependent changes pepper. We anticipate data will add horticultural knowledge help control during cultivation.

The Pun1 gene for pungency in pepper encodes a putative acyltransferase.
Pungency in Capsicum fruits is due to the accumulation of the alkaloid capsaicin and its analogs. The biosynthesis of capsaicin is restricted to the genus Capsicum and results from the acylation of an aromatic moiety, vanillylamine, by a branched-chain fatty acid. Many of the enzymes involved in capsaicin biosynthesis are not well characterized and the regulation of the pathway is not fully und...

The primary function of fruit is to attract animals that disperse viable seeds, but the nutritional rewards that attract beneficial consumers also attract consumers that kill seeds instead of dispersing them. Many of these unwanted consumers are microbes, and microbial defense is commonly invoked to explain the bitter, distasteful, occasionally toxic chemicals found in many ripe fruits. This ex...

Chili pepper (Capsicum spp.) is an important horticultural crop worldwide. Chili pepper fruits from different Capsicum species have been highly consumed in Mexico since pre-Columbian times. Some Capsicum species synthesize and accumulate anthocyanins in different tissues and organs. Although the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway has been established for different plant species, very few studies ...

Background: Capsaicinoid are a group of compounds and widely used in the food, medical, and pharmaceutical industries. Capsaicinoid are unique synthesized and accumulated in the pepper fruits. MeJA can enhance the capsaicinoid production. Temporal and spatial expression of capsaicinoid biosynthetic genes are helpful to understand the molecular mechnism of capsaicinoid biosynthesis in the fruits...

Capsaicin, the pungent principle in hot peppers, acts to deter mammals from consuming pungent pepper pods. Capsaicinoid biosynthesis is restricted to the genus Capsicum and results from the acylation of the aromatic compound, vanillylamine, with a branched-chain fatty acid. The presence of capsaicinoids is controlled by the Pun1 locus, which encodes a putative acyltransferase. In its homozygous...
